A collection of façades of popular houses in the northeastern Brazillian Sertão serves as a starting point for questioning the defining parameters of what we usually frame as being in good or bad taste, the processes of the digestion of what is different, the constitutive discourses of the so-called “popular art” and, mainly, how much our gaze is preconditioned to either like or dislike what it sees.
