São Paulo, Cidade Limpa

The book “São Paulo, Cidade Limpa” proves the comic side of the city’s Clean City Law, which regulated in 2007 the use of external media as publicity vehicles in São Paulo. The work presents real images of façades of shops, pharmacies, schools and mechanical workshops, showing how their owners found a way of fitting within the law. The documented photos are accompanied by playful fictional texts that report the supposed (and absurd) solutions found by merchants not to pay the fine for irregular advertising.
